EXCITING FINALE FOR INAUGURAL VIOS CHALLENGE SEASON

Kuala Lumpur, 22 Mar 2018 – After three nail-biting rounds of some of the most thrilling and memorable motor racing action witnessed on Malaysian soil in decades, the inaugural Vios Challenge heads to its season finale this weekend at the Technology Park Malaysia (TPM) in Bukit Jalil Kuala Lumpur.

The very first winners of the Vios Challenge will finally be named at this event, capping what has been a tremendously exciting and thrilling race series featuring 40 identically-built Toyota Vios racing cars competing in three classes including Sporting, Super Sporting and Promotional.

“I believe that the Vios Challenge has successfully made motorsports more accessible to Malaysian fans and judging from the enthusiastic crowds who have come to the events and the great vibes they share, one-make racing remains a positive platform for us to continue developing and appealing as a wholesome and exciting family activity,” said President of UMW Toyota Motor Mr. Ravindran K.

The most popular category of the race weekend is the Promotional Class where top local celebrities such as Fattah Amin, Shukri Yahaya, Diana Danielle, Janna Nick, Geraldine Gan, Danny Koo, Venice Min and Shawn Lee compete against each other. The celebrities display wonderful camaraderie at the festival grounds when they interact with their fans but instantly transform into competitive racers once strapped into their Toyota Vios race car.

Fans of the hit TV series My Coffee Prince should not miss the Toyota GAZOO Racing (TGR) Racing Festival this weekend as Syafiq Ahmad and Faez Azemi will be joining the show’s leading characters Fattah Amin, Janna Nick and Diana Danielle to meet and interact with the fans on stage. Kids too will be treated to the appearance of Didi and Friends mascots including Pak Atan. Be sure to bring the family along for the weekend.

Acting hopefuls should also come and participate in the open auditions that will be conducted at the Astro booth. With talent and a bit of luck, visitors might be picked to be featured in upcoming Astro TV dramas.

Another popular attraction of the Toyota GAZOO Racing (TGR) Racing Festival is the Toyota car showroom where all the latest Toyota vehicles including the all-new C-HR will be displayed.

The latestHilux L-Edition and updated Sienta V will also be on display together with the Innova X and Avanza X among others. Visitors are welcome to get up close with these cars and speak to the sales consultants who will also gladly assist visitors on their queries as well as to guide them to the test drive area for a comprehensive experience.

For those interested in the versatile and robust 4×4 models, they should not miss the experience and thrill of a Hilux or Fortuner conquering an obstacle course set up in the test drive section. Toyota’s Topmark will also be there to conduct an instant valuation of visitors’ cars should they be interested to trade-in on the spot.

For those who prefer the adrenaline-pumping pace of high-powered drift cars, don’t miss the exhibition by Japanese World Champion drifters Masato Kawabata and Hideyuki Fujino who will wow the crowds with their precision car control in a pair of Toyota 86 drift cars courtesy of sponsors Toyo Tires.

What would a racing festival be without awesome food? The Toyota GAZOO Racing (TGR) Racing Festival is no different as there will be 18 food and drink vendors with a wide variety of offerings ranging from mee racun to lontong goreng, coconut shakes, kebabs and takoyaki selected from among the top food trucks and stalls in the city.

Prior to the racing activities, the track will be open for an hour on both Saturday and Sunday mornings for the Fun Run and Fun Ride respectively. These sessions have been organized to allow approximately 700 registered participants to experience running and cycling on the race track as part of Toyota’s effort to promote a healthy lifestyle.

Entrance to the Toyota GAZOO Racing (TGR) Racing Festival season finale is free with activities beginning from 9am and stretching till 6.30pm daily.
